KMR Sewing began as a small fundraising idea created by Martyn and Jo — and quickly grew into something much bigger. What started as a way to help our daughter attend the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in South Korea soon became a thriving sewing business that we absolutely love.
Martyn is the creative force behind KMR. With a degree in Historical and Theatrical Costuming for Stage and Screen, he has worked in film and theatre, trained in upholstery and soft furnishings, and is a highly experienced sewing machine engineer. Jo is the organiser, the planner, and the one who keeps everything running smoothly.
Over time, we’ve expanded our services and are now proud main dealers for Bernina, Janome, Babylock, Brother, Necchi and more. Our shop offers a wide range of sewing machines across all budgets, so you can try them out and find the perfect fit for your sewing style.
We also offer trade‑ins, and Martyn refurbishes pre‑loved machines to give them a new lease of life. Whether domestic or industrial, he can service and repair all brands and models.

We are thrilled to now have our very own premises at 20 Middle Street North, Driffield, YO25 6SW — a bright, friendly space filled with machines, accessories, inspiration, and a warm welcome.
🧵 Classes, Workshops & Tuition
We run a variety of sewing classes and workshops in Driffield and Nafferton, teaching everyone from complete beginners to confident sewists wanting to learn new techniques such as free‑motion embroidery, zips, appliqué and more.
Learning should be fun, relaxed, and confidence‑boosting. Whether you want to master your sewing machine, draft patterns, try millinery, tackle upholstery, or simply enjoy a creative escape, we’re here to help.
We also offer one‑to‑one tuition for those who prefer a more personalised approach.
Many of our past attendees had never even switched on a sewing machine before — and left proudly carrying their first handmade projects. There’s something for everyone, and all abilities are welcome.

KMR is made from the initials of our three children. Family is at the heart of everything we do, and the name reflects the love, growth, and creativity that inspired this journey.
